Our Instructors

Debbie Fisher, a native of Austin, Texas, has studied and taught dance most of her life. She started teaching and doing choreography for her high school's dance team and theater department and expanded to teaching for kids' camps while living in the Marshall Islands. She later taught ballroom dance at the University of Texas, local dance studios, and was even invited to dance on television.

In addition to being a certified dance instructor, Debbie holds a secondary teaching certification in psychology and biology from the University of Texas and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Washington University. Throughout her career as a therapist, Debbie has been able to incorporate dance to enhance her therapy sessions for those with physical and developmental challenges.
Over the past 20 years, Debbie has been recognized for her teaching and has been invited to speak for national and international occupational therapy conferences. She was also the 2022 recipient of the Distinguished in Excellence and Education Award by TSHT.
Debbie is the proud mother of three boys and has a passion for teaching etiquette and dance for the Austin Cotillion.

Cody Fisher is one of the most in-demand speakers / entertainers in the world today. His theatrical training has taken him all across the United States and to over 20 countries worldwide. (See also www.codyfisher.com)

Before pursuing his career as a professional magician and motivational speaker, he received a molecular biology / biochemistry degree from The University of Texas in Austin. He has taught at the elementary, middle / high school and college level. As an educational speaker, he has developed several programs on Character, Motivation, and Self Esteem. His programs have been featured in hundreds of schools across the state of Texas and worldwide through his TEDx Talks.

With Cody's unique background in comedy, magic, teaching, and motivational speaking he is sure to keep your students thoroughly entertained as they learn valuable life lessons.

Our Student Instructors

Ashton Fisher is a dedicated pre-med student and honors graduate of Concordia University Texas that brings both academic excellence and a passion for mentorship to the Austin Cotillion team. With a strong foundation in the sciences and a commitment to helping others, Ashton aspires to pursue a career in medicine.
​
His teaching experience includes serving as a tutor, where he has worked one-on-one with students to build confidence and improve understanding across a variety of subjects. Ashton's approachable style and patience make him a natural fit for working with young learners.
​
In his free time, Ashton enjoys playing the saxophone, exploring new music, and staying active through activities like hiking and swimming. His appreciation for both structure and creativity aligns well with Cotillion's mission of combining etiquette with self-expression.

Pre-Med Student

Ayden Fisher, an Austin native and graduate of Westwood High School, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration at UT's McCombs School of Business. Ayden brings a diverse range of experiences to the team, including roles in customer service and experience working in local teen government organizations.
​
Recognized for his academic achievements, Ayden is a recipient of the Balcones Women's Association Scholarship and the Fay T. Barnes Scholarship, and has recently earned a place on the University Honors List. Beyond his academic pursuits, Ayden actively engages with the Austin Cotillion as an experienced instructor, where he helps teach dance through demonstration and guidance.

Outside of his role at the Austin Cotillion, Ayden enjoys reading, playing piano, and going to the gym. He is very involved at UT, and is an enthusiastic member of the UT Ballroom Dance Club and the UT Fencing team.

​Alex Fisher, a recent graduate of Grisham Middle School and a future student at Westwood High School, is accomplished in several areas. Having participated at the Austin Cotillion for over five years, Alex has become seasoned in a variety of dances, including the rumba, waltz, and swing. As a student instructor, he demonstrates a natural ability to connect with and guide students in learning various steps and rhythms.
Beyond the dance floor, Alex has consistently demonstrated his athletic prowess on the tennis court, achieving success in various tournaments and earning a spot on the Westwood High School tennis team. He also enjoys playing chess and learning new pieces on his saxophone.
Alex is currently on the business and industry route, and hopes to pursue a business degree in college.​​​​​​​​​

It really does take a village to raise a child. Every year we are so fortunate to get such wonderful help from our amazing parent and student volunteers.

Parent volunteers help out with just about every aspect of cotillion to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Student volunteers help organize our refreshment breaks, help studetns with questions, and assist students with the various dances.
